Welcome

Your path to optimal health starts here.

Whole Roots Health provides integrative medical services, non-pharmaceutical options, and health education based on current research to the Truckee-Tahoe region and “virtually” everywhere.

Integrative Functional Medicine is a comprehensive health care approach that incorporates well rounded medical perspectives to investigate root causes and create holistic treatment plans. Our approach to patient care combines the philosophy of balance and how to restore function from Chinese Medicine theory, with the knowledge of biochemistry and physiology of Functional Medicine. We stay current with research trends about how our genetics, environment and lifestyle all interact with each other. At Whole Roots Health we focus assessment and intervention at the root levels of metabolic imbalance, treat holistically without the use of drugs, and emphasizes preventative care and maintenance.

Integrative Diagnostics

Eastern Diagnostics-Hands On Assessment:

  • Pulse diagnosis: pulse diagnosis is a very important diagnostic tool that provides your practitioner with information about the state of your health. Chinese medicine pulse diagnosis is a detailed and subtle process looking for much more than your pulse rate.
  • Tongue diagnosis: yields information about the health of each organ system and the vitality of the body as a whole by analyzing the tongue shape, coating, and color.
  • Hara diagnosis: is a Japanese form of abdominal evaluation. Regions of the abdomen hold information about the uterus or prostate, blood sugar balance, the adrenals, Liver health, the immune system and the HP0 (hypothalamus, pituitary, ovary) axis.

Functional Lab Testing:

  • Comprehensive Functional Blood Wellness Panels: using blood chemistry within optimal ranges to evaluate for anemias, inflammation, blood sugar imbalances, liver and kidney health, thyroid, cardiac risk, and immune markers. Analyzing with the functional range helps catch issues early and allow time to make the necessary nutritional and life style changes to reverse the trend.
  • Fertility Testing: Ovarian reserve, semen analysis, menstrual cycle tracking, ovulation confirmation, pituitary disorders.
  • Micronutrient Testing: measures the functional levels and deficiencies of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, fatty acids and amino acids. We can use these results to determine if there are deficiencies in your body, or if you are over-supplementing in an area.
  • Food and Chemical Sensitivity Testing: identifies cellular immune reactions to foods, chemicals and other substances.
  • Advanced Hormone and Adrenals Testing: comprehensive assessment of adrenal/stress hormones, thyroid, insulin, sex hormones and their metabolites.
  • Advanced Stool and Microbiome Testing: analyze infections, inflammation, immune response, malabsorption, microbiome health.
  • Organic Acid Testing: metabolic and nutritional analysis of several body systems (Gastrointestinal, Detox Capacity, Energy Production, Neurotransmitter Metabolism, Oxidative Damage/Stress). It is a great way to get a of information and give us an idea as to where to prioritize treatment.
